RSS News Feed

RSS is a technology that allows a site operator (such as soundtraining.net) to syndicate news and other web-based content. Major news organizations such as CNN and CNET use RSS news feeds to syndicate their content, but blogs and other types of content are also syndicated using RSS. News aggregators such as Yahoo! and NewsGator make such feeds available through their web sites. RSS readers are also available such as RSSReader or Pluck which are installed on your computer.

Yahoo!, NewsGator, BlogLines, and others offer links to automatically add a site's news feed to your home page or your news page:

Sites, such as soundtraining.net, display the button to indicate the availability of an RSS news feed. Clicking on the XML or RSS button will often display a page of XML code. To subscribe to the RSS feed, you copy the URL of the page into an RSS reader. We'll try to make it a little easier for you. Just copy the soundtraining.net RSS feed URL (http://www.soundtraining.net/blog/wp-rss.php) and paste it into your RSS reader.

There are several versions of RSS. If you're not sure which one to use, just use the link above (that's our RSS version 0.92 feed). We also support RSS version 2 at http://www.soundtraining.net/blog/wp-rss2.php. Additionally, we have an Atom feed at http://www.soundtraining.net/blog/wp-atom.php

We anticipate that our RSS feed may eventually replace email newsletters as our primary means of communication with you.

What is a blog?

A blog (short for "weblog") is an online journal of thoughts and or commentary created by a blogger (author) and made available for reading on a website. Blog readers can often comment on individual entries of the blogger, sometimes resulting in extended discussions. The soundtraining.net blog is a moderated blog, meaning that readers' comments must be approved before being published. Other blogs are completely free-form.

Hands-On Workshop or Heads-Up Seminar?

soundtraining.net offers both hands-on workshops and heads-up seminars. The difference is simple: Computers are provided for the hands-on workshops, but not for the heads-up seminars. Heads-Up seminars offer the student considerably more information in a much shorter time period. Hands-On workshops move only as fast as the slowest student. Most students, even those who are "hands-on" types of learners, find that the soundtraining.net "Heads-Up" seminar format, with its many live demonstrations and interactive learning environment, offers the student both an outstanding learning opportunity and tremendous value in training.

Tips for Attendees

Bring a sweater or jacket. Meeting room temperature can be difficult to regulate.

Many students bring a thumb drive to the seminar or workshop to facillitate the exchange of class-related files with the instructor and other students.

Pens, pencils, and hi-liters will be provided. Your seminar workbook has plenty of space for note taking.
